UA School of Dance
The dance program at the University of Arizona provides an environment that is a catalyst and support system for learning, and is rigorous enough to serve as the gateway to careers in the profession. Essentially, we offer a conservatory approach in a liberal arts setting, and take pride in being part of this highly ranked institution.
As Jory Hancock, Director of the School of Dance says, “We dance, first of all, because we are driven and buoyed by the joy it brings us. It can become a job, but in the beginning it is an internal need to move, to learn, to express, to create, and to feel alive.”
We are pleased that you are considering participating in Arizona Jazz Dance Showcase (AJDS) at UA School of Dance. Students who attend AJDS are able to get a feel for the UA campus, meet UA Dance faculty, share the joy of dance with others from all over the U.S. and learn from nationally recognized professionals in the field. AJDS is one of several outreach/education events UA School of Dance offers to the dance community each year.
In addition, high school seniors who attend AJDS have the opportunity to audition for admission into the School of Dance.
